Many implementations of this idea exist, but all are limited by the fact that a human must manually create the annotations for the photographs, often using a program with which he or she is not familiar. bibo:abstract "The fields of the Semantic Web and Ubiquitous Computing are both relatively new fields within the discipline of Computer Science. Yet both are growing and have begun to overlap as people demand ever-smaller computers with persistent access to the internet. The Semantic Web has the potential to become a global knowledge store duplicating the information on the Web, albeit in a machine-readable form. Such a knowledge base combined with truly ubiquitous systems could provide a great benefit for humans. But what of personal knowledge? Information is generally of more use when linked to other information. Sometimes this information must be kept private, so integrating personal knowledge with the Semantic Web is not desirable. Instead, it should be possible for a computer system to collect and store private knowledge while also being able to augment it with public knowledge from the Web, all without the need for user effort. This thesis begins with a review of both fields, indicating the points at which they overlap. It describes the need for semantic annotation and various processes through which it may be achieved. A method for annotating a human's life using a combination of personal data collected using an ubiquitous system and public data freely available on the Semantic Web is suggested and conceptually compared to human memory. Context-aware computing is described along with its potential to annotate the life of a human being and the hypothesis that today's technology is able to carry out this task is presented. The work then introduces a portable system for automatically logging contextual data and describes a study which used this system to gather life annotations on one specific individual over the course of two years. The implementation of the system and its use is documented and the data collected is presented and evaluated. Finally the thesis offers the conclusion that one type of contextual data is not enough to answer most questions and that multiple forms of data need to be merged in order to get a useful picture of a person's life. The thesis concludes with a brief look into the future of the Semantic Web and how it has the potential to assist in achieving better results in this field of study. "^^xsd:string

bibo:abstract "Behavioural interventions are used by social scientists to effect change in a person’s behaviour. The LifeGuide project is developing tools to enable the easy creation, deployment and trialling of Internet-based behavioural interventions. The use of on-line behavioural interventions is appealing as it can be more cost effective than face-to-face interventions, can deliver tailored advice at times that suit the participants, and can provide detailed statistical information that can be used to better understand behaviour or demonstrate the efficacy of the interventions themselves. The problem however is that developing on-line interventions is a complex, time-consuming task that often has involved high levels of specialist computing support in construction and delivery. The LifeGuide project is looking to put tools into the hands of domain specialists (psychologists, social scientists, health professionals, etc.) that enable them to easily construct their own behavioural interventions and deploy them on the Internet. This paper looks at the authoring tools currently being developed by the project, assesses their usability through case studies of interventions developed so far, and suggests where the project will look in the future to continue to improve the tools to meet the needs of the wide range of intervention authors."^^xsd:string

bibo:abstract "This paper introduces a novel lifelogging system. The novelty of our system is that it uses open linked data to reduce the burden on the user to an absolute minimum by combining the user's private logs with data obtained automatically from the web. This in turn is annotated with data generated by the latest version of the author's portable 'life annotation' software to generate a detailed, interactive, user-friendly visual representation of the user's life experiences with little or no manual work required. This paper covers several key parts of the system that make it work. Specifically, the analysis of linked data, entity comparison with known objects and events from the user's own logs in order to determine relevance, and careful annotation of the user's data ensuring that the data's provenance is stored alongside the annotations generated."^^xsd:string

bibo:abstract "Erica the Rhino is an interactive art exhibit created by the University of Southampton, UK. Erica was created as part of a city wide art trail in 2013 called "Go! Rhinos", curated by Marwell Wildlife, to raise awareness of Rhino conservation. Erica arrived as a white fibreglass shell which was then painted and equipped with 5 Raspberry Pi Single Board Computers (SBC). These computers allowed the audience to interact with Erica through a range of sensors and actuators. In particular, the audience could feed and stroke her to prompt reactions, as well as send her Tweets to change her behaviour.␣␣␣Pi SBCs were chosen because of their ready availability and their educational pedigree. During the deployment,␣␣`coding clubs' were run in the shopping centre where Erica was located, these allowed children to experiment with and program the same components used in Erica. The experience gained through numerous deployments around the country has enabled Erica to be upgraded to increase reliability and ease of maintenance, whilst the release of the Pi 2 has allowed her responsiveness to be improved."^^xsd:string

bibo:abstract "This work describes a project which aims to explore the scope of the discipline Web Science; an emerging subject which is fundamentally inter-disciplinary. There are very few definitive subject definitions currently available for Web Science. Additionally, the nature of the subject is constantly evolving as an increasing number of different disciplines begin to practice what might identifiably be called Web Science. This potentially provides educators and students with a problem; how do you teach or learn about Web Science when there is no clear definition. The ultimate aim of this project is to collate and analyze current material available, in an attempt to provide recommendations for a clearer definition of Web Science."^^xsd:string
